From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers

This has been a very busy and productive term. I have been continually impressed by the levels of student commitment, learning and sheer joy that your children bring to our school community. We are a strong community and there are many bonds that allow us to offer the educational experience that we do. Through the dedication of our teachers and staff, the support of our parent body, St Joseph’s Memorial School continues to provide many and varied opportunities for children to develop their potential and show what they are successful at.

From the Assistant Principal RIM

Dear Parents and Caregivers

On Sunday I had the pleasure of watching some of our Year 4, 5 and 6 students participate in the Tournament of Minds (TOM) Competition at Flinders University. TOM is an opportunity for students with a passion for learning and problem solving to demonstrate their skills and talents in an exciting, vibrant and public way.

Over the past 6 weeks the 2 TOM teams have worked together to prepare their response to a challenge. The challenge focusses on students working collaboratively in all areas of the response from writing a script, working on props, learning lines and performing their response.

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Father’s Day

Thank you to everyone who braved the chilly morning and early start to come to our Father’s Day Breakfast and Liturgy, we had a great turnout; it was lovely to see so many people enjoying the expertly cooked bacon and eggs and warming up over hot coffee and tea. Special thanks to all the staff and P&F executive who started their work day extra early to help cook and set up.

Year 6/7 Learning Journey - Night of the Notables

The Night of the Notables is an integrated unit of work in which students engage in an in-depth study of one Australian notable person. The students have been involved in comprehensive research which has facilitated skills of independent learning as well as higher level thinking skills. Tonight the students showcased their product of deep personal study. They presented themselves in character as their Notable, displayed the Learning Centre they had created and engaged with the audience to answer questions about their character.

Catholic Police Checks for Volunteers

Catholic Police Check Application Forms are available from either school office.

Please note - there are many times throughout the school year where visitors are required to have a current Catholic Police Check (parents/caregivers attending excursions, reading in class, helping in class, attending community events).

This process ensures we maintain a child safe environment. To avoid disappointment, we encourage you to apply for a Catholic Police Check through either school office.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at either office.

Thanking you
